Spoilers! Bond: No Time To Die: after waiting YEARS, here is my list

of complaints:

1. If you need to place a toddler in direct proximity to the bad guy to create drama, you are a weak writer.
2. Heroes like Bond don't choose suicide for love.....ever.
3. The bad guys both died unimpressive deaths: No celebratory grand gesture that results in the bad guy dying in his own evil machinery/plot/disaster.
4. The "If I touch you, you'll die" paradigm is already spent: Frozen
5. They wouldn't explode the island because it would send the nano toxins all over the world.
6. We had no big compelling reason to hate the one-eyed assassin, and no great ugly death for him: Bond made a joke out of it, that "I showed someone your watch and it blew his mind" quip.
7. I just don't know how they'll continue the franchise after this. Just pretend the film didn't end the way it ended?
8. I thought the young female cia gal at the beginning would make a great future 007, but she just left the film never to return. Too bad.
9. No flirting with moneypenny. And I miss Judy Densch.
10. The music was gorgeous.

Eon Productions, the powerhouse behind the Bond films, will follow the pattern of the superhero films. They’ll reboot the franchise, make 3-5 movies and then start over.

How many times do we need to see the origin stories of Batman, Spider-Man, et al.? Their comic book histories are deeply rich with more stories but the film makers keep going back to stories we’ve already seen.

I’m a life-long fan of Bond. I’m old enough that I saw the original releases of “Dr. No” and “From Russia With Love.” I’ve read Flemings novels more than once and many of the following books by Gardner and others. Once again, there are plenty of tales to flesh out.

If Bond is dead, how can they logically bring him back?

Maybe it’s time to retire 007. The premise is based in the Cold War and Bond’s personal behavior is dated, to put it politely.

“Casino Royale” was a brilliant reboot but the future doesn’t look good for the super spy.

planned a miraculous escape from the middle of the explosion, but that seems less likely than him dying.
They took out felix as well, so, maybe they'll just start over with a new james bond, like, Idris Elba, and re-form the character completely? Either way, it's gonna take years to find out. Broccoli swears everyone to silence. Never any leaks.

They got some clever, athletic orphaned nobody, groomed him (or her) to be "James Bond", with the 007 as ort of a government account number, and set him/her out into the world as a vigilante type chaos agent to handle rich evil geniuses.

Anyone could be James or Jane Bond.

But it has been the case for the films.

The Roger Moore era was sort of fun and financially successful but the goofy humor and double entendres didn’t come from the novels. For me, the silliness and the ridiculous gadgets deflect from some of the serious issues Fleming highlights in his novels. For example, the novel “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” is about bio-terrorism and “Thunderball” considers nuclear terrorism.

Oh, well. I’m probably spending too much time thinking about this! Have a great week.
