and at the time I only remembered the line "Close cover before striking". It generated
a lot of hilarity in my 6th grade classroom!

I met a man named Otis who invented a room
His heart was filled with pride
I asked him, "Mister Otis what does your room do?"
He said, "It goes from side to side!"

regardless of up/down/sideways orientation is a feature of much science fiction
writing and video. Otis was ahead of his time.

At least indirectly due to alcoholism.

I suppose happy, well-adjusted people don't do well in comedy.

When I was 12 I bought a 45 record that was recorded by Allan Sherman from a back alley store. It was called, "1964 Democratic Convention." Of course, over the years it got away but I listened to that record so many times that I memorized most of the words. It is a parody of his "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah." The opening line goes:"Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah, All the guys here, dig Goldwatah. Nixon's fading, Rocky's slipping, Henry Cabot Lodge is over there Viet Nipping." Anyone else see the record or better yet, still have it? I wish I could have kept up with it but, alas...
