(3,256 posts)He looks like a Burmese?

(33,643 posts)You can see he's pretty stocky, more typical of Burmese. He also has golden eyes (with a lot of green in some lighting), not blue like Tonkinese.
But Tonks are a Siamese/Burmese hybrid (and Burmese are closely related to Siamese to begin with) so not that much separates the three really. I love all 3 breeds

(3,256 posts)Such a great breed.

(33,643 posts)He's constantly being adorable, and already loves me like he's known me his whole life and all he wants to do is be near me. Dog-like is a pretty apt description.
He's awesome, but a bit much at times. Very spoiled cat before I even got him
Still trying to establish some ground rules like 'no, you can't sleep on my chest every waking hour of every day!'

(3,256 posts)We call ours alien cat. Id post a pic but I dont know how!😂 Unfortunately, ground rules with a Burmese are pretty much a joke. They are in charge of everything. And, they do not want to be left alone. Its funny, we got our dog because that breed is more cat-like and we now have a cat thats more dog-like! So, I have both following me around all day.❤️

(2,203 posts)When I am able to get a cat, that's the kind I hope for. Are they as 'dog-like' friendly as purported?

(33,643 posts)One of his favorite spots is on top of the 15" subwoofer, and he doesn't mind if it's fairly loud in here (which is the normal state of play in my office)

(65,010 posts)Over the years we had a few cats that would do that.
Most curled up on my lap, but I can think of 2, maybe 3, that would do that.
It's fun!
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)I put my hand under him for support, and he just went back to sleep in that position on his back
I was like omg you are so friggin cute and had to take pics

(67,782 posts)....rack, peeking out to look at us.
We went back the next day, same thing. They had to roll the rack into the middle of the room, he reluctantly came to the middle of the room.
When we got him home he ran behind a television stand and hid back there for a week! He only came out at night when we were sleeping to get something to eat and use his box.
We spent a lot of time in that room watching television "with" him. Finally after a week he came out and crawled onto my lap!
Kittens are amazing.

(33,643 posts)I've only had 3 cats of my own i.e. this is my 3rd and I didn't get any as kittens. First two were 3-6 months. But this guy is already 8 yo. And spoiled ROTTEN!

(33,643 posts)I didn't name him, my Aunt did. And after my uncle passed, she became a very frequent traveler to France ... so IRL he's probably named after some handsome, strapping Frenchman, but ... not anymore!

Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)However, you're right, he's still hard to see cause they're both solid, dark colors.
He's not too bad about being underfoot though except when I'm dishing out his food from the can.
You know how they are
