We're doing Italian at my house for Thanksgiving, and I wanted a really spectacular sauce for the pasta course. So...I went looking and discovered that people have figured out the sauce the wiseguys in Goodfellas made while they were doing ten years. That's what I'm doing, but not the "slice the garlic with a razor blade" part.

My reasoning for using less onion: they make the sauce too sweet in the end. I love the flavor, though.

7. I'm not being serious. It's a paraphrased line from that scene in the movie.

As he is slicing the aforementioned garlic, Paulie says "Vinnie... don't put too many onions in the sauce" and the narrator (Henry) goes on to say that he thought Vinnie used too many onions.
