Last year my home health office gave me caregiver of the year. It was nice to be recognized at home. They sent the information and a nice letter about me to the corporate office and the company recognized me for this quarter. It comes with a little bonus, a plaque and my picture in the news letter. It also puts me in the running for caregiver of the year for my whole corporation.
I've been a nurse over 30 years and this is the first award for my hard work that I have ever gotten. Nursing is such a thankless job usually, but my office treats me so well. This makes me very happy.
On edit, I just have to say I love my job. I have always loved being a nurse. I'm a born nurturer. I have one pediatric patient who is fed by a g-tube after being born with her intestines outside her body. She is 22 months old, can recite all the ABC's and count to 20. She is absolutely delightful and the family is great.

(6,080 posts)She is exceptionally bright. And so effing adorable. I rock her at night and when she is supposed to close her eyes and go to sleep, I look down in her beautiful face, she grins and says, "Hi". OMG! I am in love with her. And her family is wonderful too.
It is headed by a matriarch who has adopted many kids. My patient is actually her granddaughter who was born to her recovering addict adopted daughter. This matriarch has also adopted a set of 3 sisters and another girl. Not fostered. Adopted as her own.
She is retired from a local hospital and spends her retirement running a house for pregnant at-risk homeless women. She started this on her own and just bought a house for them. She is not paid for her work. She is a liberal, very Christian woman. And a Democrat through and through.

So... thanks!

Political bs since the 80's turned me a little more radical in my older years. I don't feel as peaceful anymore, unfortunately. And the election of a cruel monster like tfg has moved me to absolute anger now. I hate feeling like this.
