Pet peeves?

Last edited Wed Dec 22, 2021, 11:58 AM - Edit history (1)

Okay, it's getting close to the end of the year, so maybe it's time for a little fun venting.

What are some of your pet peeves? They don't have to be political.

Mine include:

People who talk way too much, and often just for the sake of talking.

Busybodies.

The "It's ok for me to do it, but it's not okay for you to do it" crowd.

Useless "customer service" reps.

Those multiple-choice, multiple-level phone menus.

People who don't listen to what you're saying because they can' t wait to jump in and say something. Or they cut you off.

I have more, but you get the idea.

I purchased three apple's at the store.

And many other grammar errors that grate on my ears.

Me and Steve are going to the movies.

Definitely agree with the phone menus. Remember back in the day when a human being answered the phone? Ahhhh. Bliss.

I was just typing up a post about the apostrophe but deleted it.

Why, why, why have so many people started putting an apostrophe on plural words? It’s maddening. I’ve even seen it in printed news stories.

Nobody ever messes this up in the singular. Nobody EVER says, “Her went to the store,” or “Me had a great vacation.”

Makes me grit my teeth so hard I’m afraid I’m going to crack some of them.

and there's this lo-o-o-o-ng pause before anyone comes on the line.

I've gotten to where I rarely answer calls if I don't know who it is. If it's important, they can leave a message. (And most of them don't.) But there are times where I just don't feel like listening to it ring, so I'll pick it up. If there's a long pause after I say, "Hello," I'll hang up, because why should I waste my time. If it's important, they'll call back. (They almost never do.)

Whether it's a ham & cheese sandwich, pb&j, etc., you don't ever bite into crust first. Cut the damn sandwich in half and bite into the good stuff. That's my vent for the day.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to do this. It's so much better biting into the goods than crust.

It also bothers me when people cut their steak up before they eat it. No, no, no! You are supposed to cut a piece, eat it, cut another piece, eat it, and so on. Not all at once.

Animal rescue nazis....They're everywhere...
A girl was abducted locally. I'm following it.

In come the stupid dog rescue trolls.
And they're all into pit bulls.

This one lives in NYC and is a Curis Sliwa supporter.
Many don't live in the US.

So I'm on twitter trying to follow the news about the girl and in pops an animal rescue troll from NYC. This dog was not put to sleep. I'm sure the SAPD wants to hear from some chick in NYC while they're busy searching for an abducted little girl. They're as annoying as the pro-life crowd. (In fact, they're even worse)

The animal nazis are internet bullies: "You have to rescue this dog. It's free" (That's bullshit)
They all sit in some other state or country and tell everyone that we have to rescue dogs. I feel like screaming, "Well you need to move down here and adopt every dog".....Gosh...
