(33,588 posts)And there are many more children whose parents established trust funds to protect their families from financial hardship than you would imagine. I am one. It's a business decision as well as an example of loving care.
No one is asking, or expecting, you to be impressed.
But you do you. I am sending you some Christmas cheer regardless. ❤

(1,000 posts)No one has a say in the circumstance of their birth, his mother certainly didn't live the dream, and his father is a complete cad. He manned up and protected his wife and children from the circumstances that killed his mother and made his life difficult. Beautiful family, I wish them well.
And no matter who you are, that little guy is his Daddy's mini me!

(12,217 posts)...how many people ever expected to see a member of Britain's royal family wearing torn jeans in a Christmas photo.
It doesn't bother me in the slightest, but it is a bit incongruous.

(12,217 posts)In the period just before their "final" exodus from the UK, they were staying in what might be considered greatly reduced circumstances at an "estate" a few miles from my house. Not much glitterati around this town, and Megan will reconnect with Hollywood, I imagine.

to work there, but far enough away for kids to have a normal life.
I dont know about living there, as the real estate is pretty far above our pay grade, but I lived in Goleta some 35 years and was active in liberal causes that took me into Montecito homes as a volunteer for fundraisers and such. When I went back to graduate school, some of my classmates lived there as well. I got lost every damn time I drove in, as street signs are hidden in foliage, like some kind of local joke.
Individual houses are often, but not always, gated, so theres security for those who need it (Meghans had death threats, I think). What is nearly universal are high hedges and trees, which ensures privacy. I completely understand why people with their needs would choose that area.

(41,634 posts)They just wanted good photos with both kids, and this one is particularly nice. Maybe they tried taking a formal Christmas photo that didn't turn out as nice. You never know with kids and dogs.

(12,217 posts)About kids and animals, I mean. A friend of mine from school was always really hyperactive and unpredictable, and I found out years later that that was how is was after taking sedatives.
Anyway, his family used to take a Christmas photo every year, and after several of those, his mother finally tumbled to the fact that he was exposing himself in every one. Several quick applications of Sharpie.

(41,634 posts)There are tons of "greeting card" apps that allow you to turn any photo into a greeting card.
I don't know if that's what happened on this one.
Just sayin'

(12,217 posts)Photos aren't even good evidence any more. They can be edited by someone who knows what they're doing, and not leave a trace. Pixel by pixel, if need be.
