The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have sat on DU Jury 7 times in the last 24 hours. That tells me one thing.
I'm spending way to much time here.
EDIT: Make that eight times.

You're right! It *IS* just like dating.
My point exactly.

(20,885 posts)Let's see, for every alert, six+ DUers get summoned to jury duty. Is this not a vulnerability?

(37,540 posts)Seems like an easily abused exploit that could tie the whole board up in jury duty.Perhaps the moderators/hosts need to exercise judgement on which ones should be sent to the jury...and I'm really not sure how to use the Soapbox. I've got a locked thread for discussing jury duty - I'm told it belongs in the lounge. The lounge seems like an inappropriate place to discuss reasonably serious topics like jury duty. When the forum name is "soapbox", I'd think any opinion piece belongs there. The Lounge appears to be our version of Comedy Central.

(20,176 posts)That's the forum that discussion of how DU operates, bug reports, improvement ideas, ATA, help requests & so on goes in.
If it's a post about how DU works or should work...then think H & M.
It's new and confusing but I think in time people will get the hang of this. Also, we're supposed to be permissive as hosts and accept that there might be confusion at-first over where posts go. We serve and work for the members: we're supposed to be heroes, make DU user-friendly and not be wardens or forum-cops.

(151,259 posts)When the site goes live, there will be many, many more potential jurors available, so the 18 hour rule will probably be in effect and you won't be called again. At least, I understand that's the plan.

(59,147 posts)Just conveying that maybe I spend to much time here.
At least I will be well versed when the site does go live.

(9,402 posts)As such, I have assumed all alerts are instructional and not for reals.

(20,176 posts)Put a bunch of real users in a real piece of software to get real-life usage feedback. Some of the alerts and prodding is real, some of it is for test-function purposes.

Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)The last one returned a "jury full". I guess us old folks are just not quick enough on the draw.
On edit, 0-4...another "jury full"

(37,540 posts)The only mail I ever get is acknowledgement of my DU monthly contribution.
seabeyond
(110,159 posts)the upside is i get a lot of mail people that cannot/willnot post on certain threads, but do express idea thru mail. that always makes it fun.
du2 is bold red. more fun than this meager attention getter.
Renew Deal
(85,144 posts)It's a bug. I'm quick and I've had that happen like 3-4 times.

(110,159 posts)still right there, i was getting paranoid.

(13,447 posts)and that's not counting the 1 I had to refuse because I had to leave the computer and the 1 that was already full. So I guess I can say I was selected 7 times too in the last 24 hours.
Chan790
(20,176 posts)if you add the 1 I declined to serve and the 1 I had to cancel out of because the alert indirectly-but-explicitly concerns something I'm involved in for work.
