It was a very rural area and there were so many Buddys and Bubbas that people figured there wasn’t any point.

My parents did that. Both their names start with J, then they named all 3 of us kids starting with J. This was in the 70s.

Only they chose from two letters so our names started with either of the two.

It has been around as long as I can recall and it's rather common in some locations.

My wife’s family did this:

And… wait for it…
Larry!

I had only one son so that issue never occurred to me.

My oldest brother abandoned that. But my older brother kept it up with his 2 sons. I chose not to have any children.

...and we both have RRR as our initials.
I was lucky with common "R" names.
My brother got "Rene" and don't ask about his middle name.

My daughter and her husband named their kids, so the names they picked are different from their own, but each of the kids have the same initials as either their Mom or Dad. I thought it was cool when I noticed.

George 5, as their father is George 3, his father is George 2 and his father is George 1. The kids are called Four and Five. I swear.
