(32,389 posts)It was a very rural area and there were so many Buddys and Bubbas that people figured there wasnt any point.
My parents did that. Both their names start with J, then they named all 3 of us kids starting with J. This was in the 70s.

It has been around as long as I can recall and it's rather common in some locations.
