The dreaded Campbell's Green Been Casserole recipe.

http://www.campbellkitchen.com/recipedetail.aspx?recipeId=24099

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Regular, 98% Fat Free or Healthy Request®)
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Dash ground black pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans
1 1/3 cups French's® French Fried Onions

* Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 2/3 cup onions in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
* Bake at 350°F. for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling. Stir the bean mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining onions.
* Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.

----

Okay, I'll admit it - I actually like this - but only with french cut beans.

I have to ask anyone who dreads Green Bean Casserole why they hate America.

however? If you can actually cook without the primary ingredients needing a can opener or a pop top?

Green beens with REAL sautéed onion and mushrooms are quite good.

But I'd sauté the onion and mushroom with appropriate spice and add it to the the green beans just before serving. Green beans steam cooked to vivid green perfection, so that their skin will have just that tiny little bit of resistance before popping in your mouth.

And of course the green beans would have to be fresh. The cells of anything canned or frozen have been dead far too long to give that "popping" sensation.

like I did a few years ago! I had to make enough for twelve people and my cream sauce looked murky after those sautéed mushrooms with their oxidized gills were stirred in. My small grocery store didn't sell much fancy stuff, and I wasn't familiar with Portobello mushrooms, so I didn't realize they undersides shouldn't be dark. My SIL told me I should have scraped them off. Oh well, I had made fresh green beans almondine in previous years, should have stuck with that!

Damn was that stupid. I still laugh every time I think of that picture of the poor cook putting up the sign saying "We are now serving FREEDOM fries." E-FUCKING-GADS!

I'm amazed that Bush didn't have the Statue of Liberty torn down and sent back to France, except that he probably had no clue that it came from there. He certainly had no clue of what is inscribed on the base.
