(3,630 posts)That scale is your basic bottom rung for doing things like commercial seafood sales. I've sold and worked on them. For weighing live animals you need a more expensive indicator that is capable of using an algorithm to smooth out the movement noise; this was first done in the industry for "baby scales" in hospitals but is now available in higher weight ranges for other animals. (IIRC it is technically a multipole low-pass filter.) There were a couple of points before the midpoint of the video when they should have been able to read the weight and let the little guy go. But it is obvious they were waiting for that cheap readout to indicate stability, which it is only designed to do when a cooperative basket of shrimp is not dancing around on it.
