(14,061 posts)I am OVER companies hijacking and ruining iconic songs to shill their own crap.
What a Wonderful World is right up there with Everybody Knows Your Name. Just stop it. Wonderful World is now being used to sell cruises, in addition to investments and shady animal welfare groups. Enough. Neither song is in the public domain yet, and I wish their owners would show a bit more discretion.
While both grind my gears, the Applebees spots go on for far too long. Jeebus
bring back Fancy Like, which they nearly beat to death late last year and was universally hated. I think the goal of advertising anymore is to make the product annoying AF.

(7,399 posts)That would cost less than licensing a popular song and they'd be putting money into a beleaguered music scene. And people would think solely of their brand when they hear it. Sure, there's a chance that the song would be a flop. Such is life, it is better to take a shot and not be a bunch of corporate chicken shits.

The Cheers theme just pisses me off. Eating crap food at a crap restaurant chain is not what the song is about. But if the copyright owners sell out
