Greenspan realized because of the overwhelming greatness of Getz that being a professional musician was not the best path for him. Just like the common saying: I was going to be a singer, but then I heard Sarah Vaughan.

(2,244 posts)I also remember being fascinated by my parents' album cover of Whipped Cream (Herb Alpert), and my mom singing Moon River. She had a wonderful voice. These are my earliest music memories as a child, all coming about the same time, when I was 5 or 6 years old.

(63,901 posts)with my mother and heard this joyful music which was new to my tender young ears. I thought it was rapturous! As was Brazil itself. What a gorgeous country and culture. It was like being on another planet from Dallas, Texas, where I lived.
