30 years anniversary...

As in I've been living here in my apartment now, for 30 years.

I've had ups and downs, several bad neighbors and a bunch of good neighbors.

Had one neighbor at the north end of the building, who was a garbage hoarder, he died of a heart attack right in his kitchen.

Had another who was a functioning alcoholic.

But I had other good neighbors.

The first time I lived in the same dwelling for more than three years in a row I was approaching 40. My record is seven years in the same dwelling and 12 years in that same town. I was a military kid so I moved all the time. Now that I'm getting old, mid 60s and used up body, I am thankful when I can find a place that seems like I might never have to move again, I'm still looking for that place.

Lots of people wish they had that, but don't.

We will have been in our house for 34 years in Sept. I love it here, but it definitely has it's downers - the nextdoor neighbor on one side is an ass and the lady on the other side has a vicious dog that has attacked our dog twice, obviously not ideal, but she did get a new gate and we strengthened the fence between our houses so hopefully this won't happen again.

OF course the people across the street and the guy 2 doors down are good people and so are the folks across from them. It's pretty here on our 1/3 of an acre lot and quiet except for animal sounds with lots of birds and squirrels in the 21 oak trees on our property. I have really learned to appreciate this refuge so much more during the pandemic and am very grateful to have it paid off!!
