(86,601 posts)They eat what little forage there is and the ranching people want that for their cows that don't belong here.
Two questions about ranching in the west describe the problem:
In the grassy eastern states; How many cow/calf pairs can I put on this acre of grass?
In the western states where there's a lot of wildlife dependent on the grass; How many acres will I need for this one cow/calf pair?
In the west in some places the soil profile is less than an inch, when disrupted by cattle, takes many years to revive if it ever does.
This org has been on this issues for decades because someone has to. They explain it in detail.

Seems such a shame doesn't it, to pen in beings whose natural life is to run free? The whole grazing thing makes me think of the Bundys.

(86,601 posts)They were one of the cases that prompted the WWP to organize way back when.
Cattle came here with the Europeans and they brought diseases like brucellosis that is the red herring used to kill bison. Millions in tax $$ are spent on the horrid control programs every year.
Cows are sacred around here, evidenced by the eradication of all humans, flora and fauna
that did not accommodate the ranching industry. Still happening, still quite a racket in these parts. Many of the state legislators are cattlefolk.
