I think it's likely a way to waste a lot of time for those who have nothing else to do. I already have enough of those.

Solely because my 12 year old grandson shows his training videos there for the up coming Little League season. He's so intense! So cute. The rest of it, I ignore. Constant notifications are a real pain.

... watch a link that was sent to me, and I'll end up falling down a rabbit hole of strange and amusing videos.

strange videos. Might like amusing ones. Is this where the funny animal videos that sometimes get posted on DU come from?

I dipped my toe in a few months ago. I started by watching cute & fun dance videos. It went like that for a couple weeks, more & more, until I lost an entire Saturday - over 8 hours - scrolling up. I ignored my husband and my dog all day. That's when I uninstalled it and never looked back.

It's like technology heroin... you try it, you like it and it becomes addictive. Then, you swipe up, over & over, for that next "fix".

7. I look at it sometimes. As mentioned it seems mostly geared to young people.

A lot of short vids of kids dancing or similar. There are often some funny videos. It bothers me when someone will post some incident or prank and then stop before the end reveal, and say “like” to see the finale. I never do that. I guess it must be some status symbol to show how many “likes” you get.

A couple of weeks ago. He said his daughter told him that if he had posted a TikTok video then TikTok was no longer cool.
