3. CottonBear, I feel your pain!

Today was the first time I ever wound up with six guesses, and I've been playing for the better part of a month. The letters I picked in the first four turns resulted in only two matching, so it was a real slog!

I now know that Wordle uses "Phew" as the response when you get it on the last chance.

I was getting a little worried though. I’ve never failed to solve Wordle and gotten the dreaded X/6.

Great minds think alike. After such a bad start, I pondered quite a while before coming up with SLICK, but then I thought that *had* to be it. Damned double letters...

9. I almost always play C and K after I if there's room

I have no metrics to back it up but intuitively it seems like a good tactic to me.

Edit : works for other vowels too.

14. This one was interesting

What looked like a bad start was actually pretty revealing: When there's only one vowel, it's going to be between two double-letter consonants, and fortunately I knew S had to be in one of them. And then, all those missed letters eliminated a lot of possibilities. I use this list of common double letters as a checklist:

15. Ouch, there ought to be a name for that kind of trap

You accidentally fell into an almost-right solution and had no choice but to guess at the last letter, and unfortunately it happened to be one with a lot of possibilities.

18. A possible way to deal with that

Try to find a word that you know is wrong but contains most/all of the possible letters.

In this case it was P, T, W, H, and K, so maybe play something like WHITE or PATCH to narrow it down.

27. Yeah, looks like a good strategy if there's more than 3 choices

If there are only two choices, you'd take the 50:50 shot, of course. If there are exactly three choices, I think you might as well just guess: Identifying the letter with a trial means two more guesses at least, whereas guessing would just average two more guesses.
