Wordle - not a spoiler

I'm 24 games in, and, yes, I guess I'm hooked.

I'd like to figure out my stats compared to other smart people. And the only group of smart people I have access to are here on DU. Yes, I realize it's not so much about smarts as it is about guessing, but I'm just curious.

So, my 24 games:
no correct guesses on the first try
2 after 2 guesses
3 after 3 guesses
5 after 4 guesses
5 after 5 guesses
7 after 6 guesses

Of the 24, I missed 2 completely at the start, mostly because I wasn't sure what I was doing.

I've never had a 1, a 2, or a 6.

8 in three, 9 in four, and 5 in five.

But I've completed all of them. I had one in 1 try (because people were making fun of the word on FB), none in 2, mostly I'm either 3 or 5.

My 28 successes followed an eye opening half-assed attempt which failed.

I start with whatever word comes to mind the night before and go from there. I blew through the archive in a couple days, but abandoned any word combinations that used all of the vowels in the first two words, and I enjoy it more.

A win is a win, I figure, regardless of how many steps it takes.

But, I got a tip that said to start with the word "noise", which has 3 vowels, and I have always gotten the word by 5 tries. I also taught 2nd grade and can rhyme (which is really helpful), much to my husband's dismay.

7. Your results are very similar to mine.

I usually figure the first two attempts are to get information, and then I can solve it in another 1, 2, or 3 attempts — or when I’m having less of a good day, all the way to #6.

I was floored the couple of times I solved it in 2. That clearly takes luck as well as strategy.

Today I got it in 4. Third straight day my first guess had none of the letters that were in the answer!

Tomorrow’s got to be better. I guess I’m hooked, too!
