On the phone today I requested a phone number and the person gave it to me in this fashion. I will use asterisks in place of numbers but the pattern was this:
**-*-**-***-**
My brain vapor locked.

(231 posts)we were taught to use single digit numbers, an example, 212-555-3345, when said as 200, 12, 500,55,30,3, 40, 5, we always said, "Please repeat in single digits. We had a per minute quota to follow, trying to figure out 30 from 30, 3 (33) when job required us to write down each number as said. We would mark 200 and then have to correct to 212 and all of the following number that weren't correct. The pbx board I sat at looked like it was from the 20's or 30'3 because it probably was the exact same board. We were supposed to mark the number as they said it, so 35, became 30, 5 (30,5), which is not correct. And our individual quota for the day was not good. It was all about speed, trying to process the most calls per hour. Glad I don't do that anymore.
