As I was leaving for work this morning, I noticed a wrapped Christmas gift on my porch right by my front door. I typically come and go through the garage. I was in and out over the weekend and didn't see this, so I don't know when it was put there. Nor did I hear anyone knock or ring the doorbell.
So... Christmas was almost two months ago. I do have some weird extended family who might do something like leave a gift for me on my porch two months after Christmas, but it's highly unlikely. So, before driving off to work, I went to check on the package. It's the size of a large shoebox... wrapped in Santa paper... with a sticker tag that says "To Logan From Jason." I don't have a Logan in my house. It wasn't delivered through USPS or any other carrier... it was just put there by somebody.
I know some of the people on my street, but no one with a Logan. (I don't know why I'm assuming Logan is a young person.) There's no last name, of course, so I can't search the white pages. And I have neither the time nor the inclination to canvass the neighborhood to find the intended recipient.
I didn't touch the package. I just left it on my porch for now.
Most likely, it was just misdelivered... but there's more than a zero percent chance that it's something malicious... toward me... or Logan.
What should I do??

I suppose you could just leave it where you found it until someone steals it.

(31,392 posts)According to legend, in the 1950s this very challenge faced an expedition team set on summiting Mount Logan. The resulting recipe, Logan Bread, meeting all desired requirements, is now referred to as the pinnacle of do-it-yourself energy bar-dom. Given its historical predecessor, known as hardtack or sea biscuits, one could claim the competition was not particularly stiff. Others counter, however, it was in fact the stiffest thing imaginable 6 parts flour, 1 part water, and 2 parts broken teeth.

I've since stopped doing stickers and signs, but I had Obama stickers and a yard sign in '08.

(32,634 posts)Maybe the giver didn't have any giftwrap other than Christmas paper. (I can relate to that.)

(3,579 posts)That almost makes it worse that gift-giver doesn't know where the recipient lives.

The wrapping paper and tag are pretty outré in February.
