(54,335 posts)We will both be 70 this year, and she still looks fabulous (to me, anyway!)
DUer 7wo 7rees took this photo when we met up in Dallas less than a year ago:
I'd say I'm a VERY lucky man, indeed!

(54,335 posts)For a two-time cancer survivor, she wears her (almost) 70 years rather gracefully, I'd say.
(But who am I to say? I'm biased.........)

(17,425 posts)Your wife is very pretty, and you ain't so bad yourself!
Your wife looks extremely similar to my first long term girlfriend, especially in the first picture you posted above. Same color hair, and I believe same color eyes with similar facial structure.
Thanks for posting the pics!

(54,335 posts)A mutual friend introduced us, and my first reaction was WOW, but nerds like me never have a ghost of a chance with a woman like that. Just in time, it dawned on me that if I maintained THAT attitude I never WOULD have a chance with a woman like that. She was from a rural area in the farm country of northwestern Germany, and had never before met an American that spoke German. I had no idea what kind of line to try on someone like her, so I didn't try any, just said hi and started talking. Whaddya know, that was all she was looking for. She was tired of guys hitting on her with stupid lines. America was like the dark side of the moon for her back then. She never imagined she's ever see the place, let alone have a connection to it (one of our daughters now lives there). Instead of taking offers of modeling jobs, she instead opted to become a social worker.
My wife likes visiting America, but has decided that she doesn't want to live there. When she said, "come live with me on the banks of the Rhein," of the several answers that came to mind, "no" was not one of them!

(17,425 posts)I'm 63, and I do not think that either one of us is terribly old, but I was thinking that my mom passed away about 10 years ago, and it seems like yesterday.
It's like...ZAP!...you're older!
This concept was bothering so much one time, that I looked up... why does time seem to fly by as you get older. The answer is probably common sense to most people, but it didn't click with me until I read about it.
When you are 7 years old, a year seems like an eternity, because it is a large portion of your life experience. It's one seventh of your entire life.
At age 63, a year is one sixty-third of your entire life, so your relative perception is that it flies by quickly.

(54,335 posts)Your collective life memories at age 7 are minimal compared to age 63. I don't know of a lot of 7 year olds being asked to write their memoirs!

You are a very fortunate gentleman.
But then you know that.

(54,335 posts)But I am NOT so stupid or ignorant as not to realize how fortunate I am to have her.
As one of the few DUers who have met her, I don't have to offer you proof. You know.

(17,425 posts)I try to use them on my phone when I text, but I always screw them up and usually send the wrong ones, conveying the opposite of what I'm trying to say.
Especially the faces...I misinterpret them!
