Take it easy. The bones eventually heal.

Follow the advice of the doctors and physical therapists.
They will get you back to your normal routine.

But I'm actually more comfortable without it. I'm supposed to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon on Friday or Monday. I'm hoping that I'll just need physical therapy and not surgery, but if surgery will make it heal better, faster, CUT ME! I'm down to my last Tramadol too.

I think the most painful thing I have ever gone through was a broken proximal humerus. I broke it right in half, but the bone stayed together (at first). They wanted to see if the bone would heal and graft together instead of giving me surgery, but I was trying to sleep one night and the bone just shifted out of line and I screamed it was so painful.

I found out that I was allergic to opiates and didn't respond well to Tramadol either, so it was just ice and OTC analgesics for me. The worst part of it was that it was very intense pain for a prolonged period of time. I have had other painful ailments and accidents, but the pain was relatively short lived.

I had some pins and a bone graft put in and it still hurts to the touch this day (about 5 or 6 years later). I hope your recovery goes much better than mine did! Bone pain is the worst!
