Someday I'll remember

to look for the meat thermometer more than 5 minutes before I need it.

Or just put it away in the same drawer every time.

Or buy a meat thermometer for every drawer and hope they don't migrate, or the kitchen gremlins don't make off with them....

It’s a digital model and it has magnets on its back so I can stick it on the side of the refrigerator or stove. It’s always handy and simple to use.

Still, your post is amusing!

probably because until last winter I always had a cat or cats here who believed a top responsibility (to the extent cats have responsibilities) was removing any magnets from the fridge.

Which sometimes involved the very downhill cat race down the front of the fridge.

After which I got to retrieve the magnets and whatever they'd been holding there from UNDER the fridge, while the cat or cats watched and directed.

...off the fridge. I didn't know other cats did this.

Our mackerel tabby guy cat discovered that he can take one claw and removed keys from a computer keyboard.

The magnet thing is funny. The keyboard thing is not.

before going out for any length of time, since I couldn't trust him to stay off the stove (including when I was cooking anything in an open pan). So I couldn't hang things up at heights he could reach, if it might be difficult to secure them. (And then there were the years I had a parrot whose wings weren't clipped, who loved to chew picture frames...and books, and any clothes left out, etc.)

But I haven't had a cat, or any pet, for a year now...

But if they ain’t charged, it’s like running out of gas with half the lawn done.

And that ain’t no fun. 😂😂😂

I have a stand mixer. The various bits and pieces are still strewn about after a move.
I was making a very complicated cake recipe and just pulled out a hand mixer. Needed the stand mixer. In the middle of everything I went looking for the whip attachment which was nowhere to be found.
Pain in the ass time.

Have rearranged to make it easier next time.

wanted by the time I finally found the meat thermometer, but fortunately it was still edible.

And I got most of the mess I'd made of the kitchen drawers -- which looked like a small tornado had hit them -- straightened out during the 10 minutes of stand time before I could slice the roast.

I was thinking, I can't believe they don't know where their meat thermometer is, I know where mine is

*I did find it later, it's on the top stove part next to the wall
