I normally play the same first two words but with such a strong start I probably should have deviated this time.

(17,302 posts)A new strategy that you both employed above? I see your second turns used none of the letters that you learned were right in your first turn. This is an approach I've not seen before.
I'm a four today. Broke my short streak of back-to-back threes.

(3,977 posts)I've done it this way almost from the start. I play two words that collectively contain all the vowels and frequently-used consonants.
It maximizes the number of letters that can be eliminated and then you narrow down from there. You rearrange any yellow squares as needed and then typically there aren't that many possibilities from the remaining consonants.

(17,302 posts)Maybe I'll try it when I only get a letter or two and see if it leads to a greater success rate in three turns. Thanks.

I thought tapir, but r was already ruled out.
To the OP, train got you real close. I would have started making guesses. I always try to find placement for the yellow letters.

(3,977 posts)After the first guess the 'A' could only have been in position 2 or position 5, and I should have recognized that the former is more likely.

(3,977 posts)A lot of people yesterday screeching that SWILL isn't even a word.
I doubt they'll be any happier with TACIT.

(1,323 posts)got a huge kick out of SWILL. I have 2 types of alcohol in my liquor cabinet--a top-shelf gin that I enjoy when happily relaxing with a good book before dinner, and a low-cost vodka for pre-dinner tv watching, etc. We refer to the vodka as swill. As in "I have to go to the liquor store to stock up on swill." A very common word in this household but not so much in others...

I know it wasn't the smartest to use the H twice, but I was trying to figure out the vowels and the placement of the C and the A.
