Here in eastern Kansas, February is the new March.

Temperature swings, with frequent temps in the 50s to high 60s, followed by temps in the teens & 20s, plus super fierce winds.

March (now February) comes in like a lion, and (one hopes) will go out like a lamb.

which was about an eon ago - that the end of February and early March could bring some wild swings in temperature and conditions.

One day in the 60s, even 70s and two days later a huge snowfall. Very changeable.

Every year I have to start feeding the honeybees sugar earlier and earlier because they expand numbers rapidly when we get a week in the 50s and 60s as you said. They try to expand to meet the spring blooms, then they starve a couple of weeks before the flowers come if you dont feed sugar.
