Help I'm alone tonight.

Husband of 42 years sustained a serious injury in a skiing accident today.

Tomorrow he will have surgery to fuse vertebrae in his neck.

I can't believe I'm even typing these words.

With what is going on in Ukraine too, I'm barely holding on.

Ive spoken with family but all are asleep now - 11:30 PST.

I'm up watching this disaster unfold. Alone and terrified.

Hopefully i can fall asleep soon.

Grateful for this community.

I am so sorry about your husband's accident. You must be terrified. I hope the surgery goes well and he recovers fully. I think we all are apprehensive about spine surgery, but they can do wondrous things.

Watch something soothing or funny on TV. And as far as you husband, a friend of mine had a similar operation and was golfing before too long. Just relax, do something that relaxes you and fall asleep. Let us know how is going.

She has a lot of health issues and has had a lot of surgeries. She was surprised and happy that she recovered from the neck vertebrae surgery more quickly than her other operations. Sending positive vibes that all goes well for your husband.

Ukraine situation is sad and scary, but thank goodness we have President Biden.

I had a discectomy at 2 levels (C3/4 and 4/5) with fusion and a titanium plate. I healed fast, was up walking well within a few hours. Eating has been the most challenging thing, once the pain went away but sleeping in the neck brace was also a big challenge, especially since I am a very restless sleeper so had to wear this for months.

Hopefully his surgery and recovery will go as well for him as mine did. Best wises for both.
