(34,136 posts)Back in the early 1960s my father was hired by the Peruvian government to consult about mining phosphate in Peru. As they were leaving, he was gifted a double pot. We had it for years and it wasn't until much later I realized it was supposed to be a whistling pot - but the whistle part was broken off so it no longer whistles.
My sister claimed it out of the estate with the intention of returning it to Peru since it has to be of Pre-Columbian vintage. But recently I found a source for them on Etsy and the pot that looks almost identical to the parrot one in the video, but smaller, arrived from Peru last week. I've blown through it but haven't yet tried it with the water which makes different noises as the water moves back and forth.
