YES! Tip amount depends on how much stuff you're moving and what you're moving IMO. beaglelover Feb 2022 #2
This is going to be a relatively small move wryter2000 Feb 2022 #7
I think that's sufficient! MissB Feb 2022 #10
Agreed. $50 bucks a person for your move sounds very fair. beaglelover Feb 2022 #12

I've moved entire house contents a few times. I hired the moving company to pack my stuff also. I think I probably tipped the packers and movers $100 each at the end of the days (1 day packing, 1 day moving). This was back in 2004, my last time moving.

Only a few pieces of furniture and about 30 boxes. One day, for sure. I don't have $100 in cash around. I could probably give each of them $50. Otherwise, it would have to be a check. Maybe I should go to an ATM.

They can usually deposit them with their iPhone. And they can go to cash them at their own banks.

But if you feel they were deserving and you have the means, that kind of tip would probably equate to something that would give the recipient enough to take their partner to a nice, not super pricey, dinner... something along that idea. Or you could go with some reasonable % of what you pay them for their service.

I usually tip the crew chief and let him divide it among the crew. If it's a local move (same crew & truck) I tip at the completion of the delivery.

You certainly don't have to, but I think it's a somewhat expected courtesy. Here's an article about it https://threemovers.com/am-i-supposed-to-tip-movers/ that goes over some of the "unspoken rules" of tipping, but it's also from the perspective of a moving company so take that for what you will.

I had enough cash to tip the three people I expected $50 each. It wasn't a big move at all. Six guys showed up instead of three. So I gave them the money and asked them to split it. They seemed happy. Thanks for the help.
