to MM many years ago, and it was because of her that I started to explore and appreciate many varieties of ethnic music. It was an awakening!

Because an older sibling was in their teens when I was in third grade and onward so I heard all the hits of the day. My mom listened to the radio all day too. And my dad, who traveled the world in the military brought all kinds of records home. I really liked the steel drum bands from Trinidad but I also liked lot of other localized genres.
I sang along to everything I heard until I went to school.
