(15,511 posts)... Jerry Brown so much, and he shocked me with his reply. (He was a right-winger, so I assumed he'd complain about Brown's liberal ideas.)
The old guy replied, "He... he used to date Linda Ronstadt!"

Buckeye_Democrat
(15,511 posts)... was far more intriguing to me than the 1964 song by Gloria Jones:
EDIT: I'm not sure what my favorite cover-song might be, though. Perhaps my LEAST favorite is "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Guns N' Roses. I always mock their version when the singer goes "hay hay hay hay hay yeah", or whatever, after singling the title lyrics. Fortunately for everyone, I can't strangle him over the airwaves.

(20,630 posts)I assume this is one they just do live. If I'd known I could have made a sandwich during that intro.
I never knew they had stereo drum kits.
Lochloosa
(16,686 posts)If you get a chance to see them live go for it. You won't regret it.

I know a good one
Willie Nelson and sister Bobbie covering Summertime.

(782 posts)Check out Jimmy Lafave doing Dylan's Not Dark Yet. Also some obvious ones, Disturbd Sounds of Silence, Heart doing Stairway to Heaven, Clapton, Prince et al doing While my Guitar Gently Weeps.
Mr.Bill
(24,906 posts)done by anyone else. Dylan is a great songwriter, not always so great at performing them.
One example:
Buckeye_Democrat
(15,511 posts)... I could sound just like Bob Dylan years ago while doing Karaoke is my bar-hopping 20's. I'd get standing ovations for singing just like him. (I'd make my voice much more "nasally" while imitating him, if that's the right term. Or perhaps the opposite, since I'd sing like I had sinus congestion.)
Sedona
(3,864 posts)Saw him live many many times.
On that note my favorite cover is

(14,118 posts)Mr.Bill
(24,906 posts)Joe Cocker for his killer cover of that song also.
It's not easy to cover a Beatle song and make it your own.
When my niece graduated from high school about 20 years ago the class chose that as their theme song. The lyrics were printed in the ceremony program, and someone attributed Joe Cocker as the author.

(1,114 posts)Mimi and Josefin (The voice kids Germany) version is haunting and beautiful. Give me chills and their voices separately and harmonizing just amazing
OilemFirchen
(7,288 posts)I prefer the sarcastic tone of Haley's rendition, but these youngsters nailed it. Here's hoping they have wonderful careers ahead.

(20,630 posts)It was actually a remake by two members of the Classics IV who went on the form AWB. Much more guitar in the cover.
Another good one is "Summertime" by Markus King and Billy Strings.
I can listen to this over and over.
