When they were going to start sparring he was so scared he started crying. After a few days of that I finally talked him into going out and sparring. He ended up really liking it and he was really good with the other young kids, helping them relax. I doubt he learned any techniques he could use later in a fight but getting him to have self confidence was huge for him. I don’t know of him getting in a real fight but he’s pretty good at standing up for himself and that keeps him from getting bullied.

Yes, I was an instructor. It was mostly going over techniques. Then again, I taught the older kids (and sometimes adults), not the younger kids.
