This is why I usually do not use emojis when I text. My eyes are bad, so I usually have to get a jeweler's loupe to zoom in on them, and then I still can't figure out what most of them mean.

I sometimes think people are covertly insulting me with emojis, because they know I'm not smart enough to understand what they mean.

I tried to use an emoji in a text once. I was trying to express condolences over a death I think, and I ended up sending the one where the guy is laughing so hard that there are tears on his face.

I took a closer look at the text after I sent it and realized what I had done.

So then I had to text some stupid shit like:

* I'm sorry. I used the wrong emoji in my text to you. So in that message, I then tried to send the correct emoji, and I somehow ended up texting this huge emoji of a baseball batter in a batter's stance. The freakin' thing took up my whole phone screen.

The only response that I got was this: wtf

So then I had to call the guy and explain.

I know how to use your fingers to zoom in on a picture to see it better, so I usually do that when i receive an emoji, but when you're sending one and that screen comes up with all the emojis to choose from to send, I'm not sure if you can zoom in on those, and I'm afraid to anyway, because every time I touch my phone, I'll end up calling some obscure contact or something and I'll hear the phone ringing on someone's line and they'll answer hello? hello? And then I'm trying to find the damn phone screen so I can hang up but I can't find it....

I miss the days when everyone carried a regular corded phone in public.

3. I heard the other day about some guy's elderly Mom

He and she received a group text, which said something like "I hate to tell you, but Aunt Jane's husband has died."
His Mom was first to respond, with a simple message: "Thank you for telling us. LOL"
The guy grabbed the phone, not understanding how his kindly old Mama could do something so heartless.
....................She thought the LOL stood for "Lots of Love".

I use probably 5 different smilies here. I'll use the wave, the hug, the smile, sarcasm, the hiding guy...maybe a couple more sometimes, but that's about it.
