Since April 20 I've been sitting on the love seat and surfing, reading, or watching TV, because on April 19, I fell flat on my face and for my trouble received a comminuted fracture of the right proximal humerus. IOW, I broke my shoulder. In three places.
(If you've ever had a shoulder injury, you know that just about every move you make will increase the pain. For the first three weeks I wore an amazing brace (I'd love to see the patent) that kept me securely immobile and safe from much jarring pain - like if I forget and try to move or even just reach out my hand.)
I'm sitting here on the love seat today, bored senseless, and I thought about the old chat rooms. I liked those. I wondered if I could find any; chatting with peeps would be a good way to pass the time. (Referring to open chat rooms with many people carrying on a conversation in real time.)
I haven't looked online yet, but I skimmed the choices available in Google Play. All I found were several apps competing to be Tinder for Lesbians. I plan to try to dig deeper but I'm not optimistic.
Does anyone know if chat rooms still even exist? Or if there are reasonable facsimiles? And if so, if you know of any that a bored lesbian might like, let me know.
We now return to the 8,447th episode of Dragnet. In today's episode, originally aired August 23, 1959, Friday and Smith are called to a bakery, from which someone has stolen two big flat pans full of focaccia and croissants. (It's an international bakery - very important to the plot.)
Actually I'm bingeing on Bosch. Detective stories are alive and well (thank Bob) and make Dragnet look like a 4th grade play.

(44,797 posts)I have injured it quite a few times. But a couple of months ago it started acting up for some reason. Now I get these grinding noises in excruciating pain when I try to extend my arm. So I have all kinds of sympathy for you. Plus I binge on old detective shows as well. And BBC mysteries. Let us know if you find any new or really good old series

(44,797 posts)Ive been taking ibuprofen around the clock. These last two years at age 73, spending too much time on repair and maintenance. Two years ago I was getting cancer treatment and recovering from surgery. Then Covid. Im a bit of a loner anyway. Now Ive become a complete hermit

(22,412 posts)I remember some old chat rooms as being great.
There are some YouTube channels which run live and you can chat with the host and other viewers. My YT channel favorites are psychics and tarot readers and may not be your cup of tea. It is okay to call me a nut or worse but, please, not to my face.

(1,555 posts)I saw a case about a young woman who had done so much coke that her nasal septum disintegrated. She died because her esophagus died. It was black - necrotic, I think the word was.
Peeps, go to the doctor. If you can't . . . sigh. I'm sorry. That's one thing I hate about the U.S.

(2,369 posts)IRC honed my typing skills, you reminded me how everybody talked to everybody about everything at the same time. And now, half the time I'm starting at a cell phone screen typing with my thumbs!

(27,633 posts)Sorry, I can't help you with chat rooms.
But I do know how tough it is not being active and just sitting. I "feel your pain". Although not as much.
As I related in a post last week I fell off an 8ft ladder just 3 weeks ago. In doing so I caused a compression facture in my L2 spinal lumbar disc. Moving the wrong way can cause sharp pain and there is constant back discomfort most of the time. However, there is no real treatment other than heat and cold and Ibuprofen and what the Ortho Doc, who I saw Tuesday, called the "Couch Cure". Pretty much staying as immoveable as possible for the next 6 weeks. I'm already getting bored.
Fortunately I am mobile and can go to the store, fill the bird feeders, minor stuff around the house. But no bending over or lifting and of course staying off my feet as much as possible. He said it should take about 9 weeks to heal and as I'm now in my 3rd week, I have 6 weeks to go. The worse thing is cleaning the cat's litter box. Bending over to clean that thing is torture. The cat sits there with a grin on her face.
This is my outside spring cleaning time. In fact that's what I was doing when I took the fall, trimming trees. So I'm sitting here looking at all I wanted to have done by now and "it ain't gettin' done". But I'm greatly thankful my fall didn't cause anything more serious and I feel for those who are in constant pain and have permanent limited mobility. From that perspective I consider myself lucky,
So I do deeply sympathize and hope for a speedy recovery for you.
