(34,189 posts)Until I drove it to death. When I limped back home with it there was compression in 3 of the 8 valves. RIP Skylark. Cars like that are not meant to be driven on dirt roads in a national forest or to ford streams.

(34,189 posts)Apparently it was invisible on the road. I can't remember how many dozens of time someone pulled out in front of me since they "didn't see me. Fortunately it had great brakes. I ended up developing the habit - which I have kept to this day - of driving with my headlights in the daytime. Even then, people would pull out in front of that car.

(21,362 posts)My first cat was named Percy.
I named my first car Percy in honor of my cat.
A cat is an animal.
Therefore, my car was named after an animal.
Seems perfectly simple to me.

(53,193 posts)"Tiguan" is, for reasons no one can explain, what they got when they combined the German words for "tiger" and "iguana."
This goes to show that Volkswagen encourages the use of LSD by its staff, since you would HAVE to be higher than a kite to come up with that.

I did love that car, it was just so easy to work on.
To change the starter, I climbed INTO the engine compartment, all 6 feet of me!
(Try that nowadays!)

(14,092 posts)I had the special "sport" edition that had chrome trim everywhere and a sunroof. Drove it until the engine gave out in 1996. Sweetest little car that was so fun to drive my next car was a Mazda Protege, also fun to drive.
