George R.R. Martin: "The Winds of Winter" may be "the longest book in the series"

I am really started to dislike this guy. Why can't he say: 'I am not going to finish the books, there is more money / acclaim doing scripts'.

1. He gets offended when fans say they are not interested in all that other stuff

Just with him finishing A Song of Ice and Fire. Fans have even started active boycotts over his other projects.

He has pissed away a bunch of goodwill over the years. I personally thought the fourth and fifth books weren't very good. The fourth was especially annoying since it basically left out all of the interesting characters. He keeps opening up plot lines instead of advancing the stories for the core characters.

The total and complete wreck that season eight of Game of Thrones became didn't help matters either.

2. George RR Martin is one of my LEAST favorite writers.

His writings are so damn pessimistic, enveloped in hate, greed, manipulativeness and evil. There are no good people. I watched the series because it was stunning, but I crabbed a lot about the unnecessary cruelty and murder. I started reading one of his stories about 20 years ago, it was highly acclaimed so I stayed on when I wanted to quit, but ultimately quit reading anyway because I just did not need that much darkness in my reading and have never read one word since. My husband (not realizing this) bought me the first book of a Song of Ice and Fire and I will never read it!
