(16,085 posts)We all know he didnt discover America and have a National Election Day. Will we need 2 holidays.. one for midterms?
No wonder republicans pull the audacious stunts they do. They can get away with it because we don't even get our side to fully participate in voting.
I remember the first time I ever did canvassing work. We were given printouts of each precinct that told us how each person was registered--as Dem or republican. We were instructed to only go to the Dems because if we just got our own people out we'd be the winners.
You'd think that with the way republicans are threatening who can even vote, people would realize how precious this right is, but so far it hasn't shown up in the surveys, at least as far as I can tell.
Republicans take an entirely different tactic. Their modus operandi is to tell outrageous lies and appeal to the basest instincts of the worst people, people with only a modicum of intelligence or conscience. Get them angry:
tell them they are victims and are being replaced by immigrants.
Hey, a vote's a vote, right? That's how they think of it.
It really is just a bottom line thing with them. They could care less about wrecking our institutions and faith in government.
