Yes it was, but reflective of his take at that time of his life
Two of his last HBO concerts (Life is Worth Losing in 2005 and It's Bad for Ya in 2008) were dark, but also in my mind maybe his most brilliant. Some hard truths there, which I didn't necessarily like to hear, but isn't that the point of his act?
