(30,524 posts)A dog is your friend forever, a cat only when it's in the mood. I don't dislike them and we've had our fair share growing up, as my mother was an animal lover, but I have no interest in having one of my own.

(26,454 posts)Love them both, but prefer cats now since I live in a city apartment. They are more social than what the stereotypes about them say.
Cats can form strong bonds with their people. You just have to respect their independence and meet them halfway. They are amusing, loyal, affectionate, and entertaining. Sometimes they even defend their people. I've had it happen to me.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
