Disney handing out 'barf bags' to passengers on its new roller coaster: report

My kids rode this ride two weeks ago. They enjoyed it.

https://nypost.com/2022/05/31/disney-world-handing-out-barf-bags-on-new-roller-coaster-report/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_medium=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter

Disney World’s new, state-of-the-art roller coaster is making customers sick to their stomachs — forcing theme park officials to hand out “barf bags” to nauseated passengers, according to a new report.

The new ride at Disney World’s Epcot theme park, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind” — which rotates 360 degrees and has the first-ever reverse launch on a roller coaster in Disney history — is causing intense motion sickness among some patrons, according to Disney blog Inside the Magic.

The rollercoaster, which officially opened on Friday, is so bad that Disney even added employees at the end of the ride to hand out barf bags for sick customers, one rider wrote on Twitter.

“A very large amount of people taking barf bags at the exit… I get it! We rode row 1 and I’m still making this face,” he griped.

The Marvel-themed ride, which is billed as a mix between the half-century-old Space Mountain and the kid-friendly Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, has been getting complaints since last month when customers began testing out the new ride.

When a rider chokes on his/her puke and sues Disney, they may want to re-think that ride and mitigation.

My kids told me that there were some twists that were sharp but they had no problem

My son is more interested in the music. Evidently there are six different classic rock and roll songs that were on Star Lord's mix tape that are alternated for each ride.

Are you tough enough to ride? Probably a dose of dramamine an hour before riding would be enough to prevent the vomiting.

The tower of terror has some hard drops that you are warned about. I like the tower of terror but I am not a fan of the Rock-N-Rollarcoaster My kids are the opposite. They love RockNRollar coaster and dislike tower of terror

The Intimidator (Dale Earnhardt) because people were graying out on the test runs. Last I was there, they had a warning about riding it more than 3 times I think in a day. Your chances of greying out go up a lot after 3 rides.

Went to Magic Mountain in Valencia California in 2019. Went on this ride that was so crazy and that was it for me. My heart took a while to calm down and I’m not overweight and fairly healthy.

or reconsider doing it again until Top Speed Dragster. I seriously did not recover from that one for several hours. Of course I kept doing other things but my brain was actually still at the end point of that short but dramatic ride. Only did it 2 more times because, well because.

Space Mountain is the only roller coaster I ever cared for. Probably because it was all in the dark. I have an issue with heights, and when it's dark around, what I don't see can't hurt me. Getting sick was never a problem, though. Roller coasters don't bother my stomach. My neck, OTOH... I have gotten mild whiplash on 'em. Worse than an upset stomach, because it lasts a couple of days.

I took this picture from the top of one of the rides:

After wandering through the epic new Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, your favorite characters from Guardians of the Galaxy come to life as you are teleported to a Nova Starship orbiting earth.

"Our story takes place at Epcot with the Guardians," explains Spencer Lynn, A Walt Disney World Imagineer and the producer behind the new attraction. "We have Star Lord, Gamora, we have Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, and everyone's favorite, I am Groot," he continues. But that's not all. "We also have a brand-new villain that was developed just for the ride."

The attraction, which is one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world, begins by launching guests backward into a thrilling adventure alongside the Guardians to save the galaxy.

"On top of all of that, we have an amazing ride system that actually allows us to pivot and swivel you we call it the 'omni coaster," explains Lynn. "We took all the learnings that we've had over the past however many years of Imagineering and put it all into one ride to get this amazing coaster experience you can only experience at Epcot."
