(59,440 posts)Fortunately, my brother is weirder....and thrives on it.

(47,675 posts)By the way, I'm most happily married - 26? years? I forget - fuck it - 1987. Oh, and do you remember the book I asked you to review, "The Goblin of Booker Forest"? I published it on Amazon Kindle. I've almost made $2.00 so far! Not bad for ten years of work and revision, eh?
graywarrior
(59,440 posts)Great story! I just got published in a Lit Arts Mag!
HopeHoops
(47,675 posts)Mine is at http://www.amazon.com/Goblin-Booker-Forest-ebook/dp/B005GEZJ4M for $1 and there are free readers for damn near everything but Linux. And yes, that's me on the cover. My middle daughter took the photos.

(47,675 posts)I'm going to be publishing a three book series beginning with "The Rape of Kyra Collins" under the pen name "Paul C. Brickner" to avoid association with my child-oriented books. It's a little on the dark side and the second and third books are more in the horror category than the first. I'm on about the 200th revision of the first book but I need to add a few chapters to deal with the story line in the next two books. I'm almost tired of revising the damn thing, but I still read it about once a week to keep my mind fresh on the details so I don't fuck up the next two books. I know, I know - details, details, details. That's what my wife keeps telling me. I even built a spreadsheet that keeps track of all of the main characters and their birth/death dates so I can be sure they make sense. I'm a geek.
On Edit: The book is only $1, but with my 35% commission, I've almost made the $2 in the OP subject line. http://www.amazon.com/Goblin-Booker-Forest-ebook/dp/B005GEZJ4M

(47,675 posts)I'm too into detail. I catch such things in movies and books and it shocks me that they made it through the editing process without anyone correcting temporal/spacial impossibilities.
graywarrior
(59,440 posts)I just completed one about my dad's wake which turned into a fist fighting melee. I need more detail. My writing professor says it's publishable. If I do that, my family will disown me forever instead of for life.

(47,675 posts)She's rather talented with a camera.
My eldest will be on the cover of Kyra - my middle daughter took that picture too, naked from the waist up (back). I hid in another room.

(47,675 posts)I grew up with a dark room in the basement and I was pretty damn good with B&W 110 film in my Yashika. I don't even know where to GET 110 film anymore. My eldest spent 10 days in Greece and Turkey a year ago and took over 10,000 digital photos (I shit you not). She had to pick three to use for her assignment. She's spending all of next semester in Budapest and I expect a shitload more than 10K pictures when she returns. She'll be taking some blank DVDs to burn them onto. I can't afford anymore memory cards.

(47,675 posts)I'm happy with my wife (1987) and not "in the market" so to speak. We just got off of the phone a while ago with one of my ex-girlfriends, the one that introduce me to my wife in fact. She's more of a sister now. Two of my earliest girlfriends are Facebook friends with me - one's married with kids, the other realized she was a lesbian and is happy now. My first real girlfriend disappeared. Well, to be fair, I had one in kindergarten, but I can't find her either.
None of that is about wanting to rekindle things, just touching base with old friends. Like I said, I'm happy with my woman.
graywarrior
(59,440 posts)He's crazier than I am....but no one knows that.
HopeHoops
(47,675 posts)But my wife is the silent but wild inside sort, so I guess I can relate. When she lets her hair down, watch out. She's all of 95 lbs but can kick the shit out of guys who are 6' or so. A third degree black belt isn't someone you want to fuck with. I have a back brace and have to use a cane, but I feel pretty safe. I just can't believe she's put up with me for so long. I guess there's something beyond rational thinking -what is it called again? Oh yeah, "love".
graywarrior
(59,440 posts)He comes across as smooth and balanced. No one knows whether he is serious or kidding most of the time. They look to me to see my reaction, which is usually deadpan. At home, he cracks me up most of the time because acts like a dufus. He's the smartest guy in the room but he acts clueless.
HopeHoops
(47,675 posts)For example, if I want to take over a pool table I play "drunken monk" while parking the balls around all of the pockets. That not only blocks the opponent, but it makes it easy to clear the table when I'm ready. My wife and I usually play as partners. She's quiet (usually) and generally the game works out so she gets to do the cleanup - shocks the shit out of the people we're playing against, but after we own the table we rarely lose it.
