The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsPost a song that you're hearing for the first time and like a lot.
I'll start with Bonny Light Horseman's The Roving released in 2020. Glad I found them.
Hope you like it.
Now it's your turn.

(113,043 posts)My guess is that no singer thought they could do it better than the demo, but, there was no way Angelinas mother would allow it to be released under her name. The song sits in limbo.
Was epic. What a mature voice. Thanks for the share.

(2,149 posts)Never heard it before two weeks ago. Either it's brilliantly satirical or there's something horribly wrong with me

(8,426 posts)I like what I've heard of the Mountain Goats but don't think I'll add this track to my playlist. LOL.

(3,266 posts)and I just heard it on a TV show. Paused the show to buy it immediately, listened to it incessantly, and now it's on regular rotation on the random radio in my head.

(1,200 posts)Stuff that comes through different mediums like tv shows etc, for me---is often a bit older (5 to 7 years) too.
(spotify gives you more of what you like, & that's not always a stretch, right?)
The discovery is so wonderful!

(48,966 posts)the German band Die Toten Hosen as a band very popular in Europe but virtually unknown here. I immediately looked at their YouTube videos, saw one with a title I understood though I've forgotten most of my college German, and by chance that was their biggest hit. Just one listen and I was hooked. I listen to a lot of music, but I can't recall the last time any song impressed me as much as "Tage Wie Diese."
The band's been around for 40 years, but had their biggest hit only 10 years ago, and they're still going strong.
This is the video -- which has nearly 70 million views -- and the thread I posted about them here in the Lounge is at https://democraticunderground.com/10181664814 . I've also posted about them in the Music Appreciation group at https://democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1034 and I've linked to pages with the lyrics and English translation in my posts, with more links to background info on the band and songs.
Btw, I do like the song you posted in the OP. And this was a great idea for a Lounge thread.
