Took the grandkids to pick strawberries

Yesterday was such a nice day to pick. I got the kids when their swim camp was over, and we went right out to the local farm to pick. We each got a bucketful. The clerk took a picture of us with our berries I think it'll is my last visit this season. I picked 5 times this year, and got some put away in the freezer. The same farm will have blueberries in about 3 weeks, and we're going to pick those, too. And my daughter will start getting her vegs from her local farm co-op. Summer is getting here

but we've picked almost every year with the grands. There's a big berry farm right next to my neighborhood. Makes it so easy!

I told him last night that the freezer was ready for him when he goes again. He told me that with his work schedule, he can't go with them. If I totally missed strawberries, I'll trek across the Delaware Memorial bridge to NJ (Graham's Farm stand). Love that place!

I've only ever frozen strawberries and blueberries. Maybe I'll add some peaches this year.

we had some fruit trees at our first house. I made peach wine once. Oh my! My mother thought it was the best thing she ever had. lol

My brother-in-law gave us a wine-making tip he got from an old guy. You put your ingredients together, and when you are ready to ferment, put it in a big glass bottle (we got hold of a glass water jug) and then put a condom over the top of the bottle. As the wine ferments, the condom expands, and as fermentation winds down, the condom deflates. When the condom is limp, the wine is ready to bottle. It worked great.

I worked at the library when I made my first batch of peach wine. I was a little embarrassed to tell my co-workers the method, but when I did, one of my co-workers immediately called it Trojan Peach Wine. I made labels for the bottles. I that I used a different brand of condom, so I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't get the reference for years
