HOW DO I GET RID OF the toenail fungus ad? Not asking how to get rid of

toenail fungus, but how to get rid of that revolting ad.

Note to DU ad designers: yes i am of boomer age and as it happens - I do have a mild case of toenail fungus. Nowhere near as bad as the ad, but annoying enough that Ive tried things to get rid of it So I am your prime demographic - but there IS NO WAY I'm going to click on that.

Show me some nice looking healthy toenails ... and tell me I can have nice looking nails like that. THEN I WILL CLICK!!!!!!!!!!!

I see it whenever I'm not logged in to DU. When I log in, my membership kicks in and I avoid all ads, including that one. That alone is well worth the price of a contribution to DU.

Failing that, it is possible to influence the ad algorithms by clicking on ads you don't find offensive. Problem is, the algorithms are based on your entire browsing history, and on certain demographics that you fit into. Somebody decided that old people = toenail fungus, and so those ads will come your way regardless.

versions of a toenail fungus ad but the others are far more palatable so I dont mind them. Interestingly, as of this morning, the biggest grossest, most lurid and nauseating one is GONE!!!!!! So is Big Brother actually reading my posts and adjusting accordingly? I knew they tracked postings and browsing history to feed us ads but I didnt know we could fine tune it like that?

There are other conditions that imitate toenail fungus.

Nail Psoriasis can affect both toenails and fingernails and nails may be thick, discolored, crumbly, or loose.

Darier Disease can make nails irregular and marked with red and white streaks.

Skin Cancer can also make a nail look like it has brown or black streaks, or may appear similar to a bruise on the nail.

Do yourself a favor and stop taking medical advice from this place. Go see your PD (primary doctor).
