I have two boxes of "Gobstopper" jawbreakers, and a bag of Werther's caramel hard candy.
I eat maybe 1 or 2 a week.
I have a bad habit of chewing up hard candy, even jaw breakers, lol. At 60 years old I still have all of my teeth, but I just can't afford a broken tooth. I love Werthers. But my absolute favorite hard candy is Luden's wild cherry throat drops. I also love red hots.

(9,535 posts)Mom was babysitting a friend's child and the candy got stuck in her throat. Thankfully Mom held the tot upside down and thumped on her back until the candy popped out.
I had to do the Heimlich on my own son once to save him from choking, so am mindful of not eating things one can easily choke on when home alone.

I did like Life Savers when I was a kid, and I would occasionally buy their Creme Savers candies when those were first introduced, would keep a few in my purse.
I think Creme Savers, which I remember as very good, might have been copying a European brand of hard candy, Campino candies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campino_(candy)
which were first sold in the 1960s. They're supposed to be similar. Not sure, though. Never heard of Campino candy until recently, and only because the German band Die Toten Hosen has become one of my favorite bands (since DFW mentioned them weeks ago), and their lead singer, Andreas Frege, has the nickname Campino, reportedly because of a food fight, a candy fight, when he was still in school. (He tried to get a nickname that might seem better in his early, punk-rock days, but he's said he couldn't get anyone to call him "Billy Alibi" and got stuck with Campino, or Campi. Live by the food fight...)
