And he didn't care whether the artists hated his politics.
None of the artists had the kind of political clout Die Toten Hosen had in Germany when they warned political parties not to use "Tage Wie Diese" for campaign events...and then got a personal apology from Angela Merkel when her party used (and she sang) that song to celebrate a victory.

I think you could translate the last line of that apology as "The song was too great to resist." LOL.
Merkel always had so much more class than Trump.

I'm sure he enjoyed using a lot of songs whose creators didn't want him to use them.
I also read somewhere, years ago, that he used to blast rock music as loudly as he could at Mar-a-Lago to try to annoy his neighbors who didn't like it.
