I guess I can forgive Trump for playing "Macho Man" at his rallies. BUT I'll never forgive him for (Original Post) CTyankee Jun 2022 OP

Trump misused way too much music that was way too good for him. highplainsdem Jun 2022 #2
I can't understand why his handlers let him use a song by The Village People (who I loved). CTyankee Jun 2022 #3
I really don't think he had "handlers." He just used the music he loved, most of it highplainsdem Jun 2022 #5

Trump has to have known that. It was still a very popular song at the NYC clubs he went to, and so highplainsdem Jun 2022 #6
Irony is dead to this guy. So is artistry, literacy, anything good and decent. CTyankee Jun 2022 #7

classic rock. Including some of my favorite songs.

And he didn't care whether the artists hated his politics.

None of the artists had the kind of political clout Die Toten Hosen had in Germany when they warned political parties not to use "Tage Wie Diese" for campaign events...and then got a personal apology from Angela Merkel when her party used (and she sang) that song to celebrate a victory.

The faux-pas made such waves that the newly re-elected Chancellor Angela Merkel personally apologized to Campino over the phone: "Dear Mr. Campino, I'm calling because we misappropriated your song on election night. Don't worry, it will not become the next CDU anthem. But that's such a nice song you've written there!"

I think you could translate the last line of that apology as "The song was too great to resist." LOL.

Merkel always had so much more class than Trump.

The group's name refers to Manhattan's Greenwich Village, with its reputation as a gay neighborhood. The characters were a symbolic group of American masculinity and macho gay-fantasy personas.

should, and he'll do whatever he can to block any signs that it doesn't.

I'm sure he enjoyed using a lot of songs whose creators didn't want him to use them.

I also read somewhere, years ago, that he used to blast rock music as loudly as he could at Mar-a-Lago to try to annoy his neighbors who didn't like it.
