What have you recently run into that got your attention about current inflation?

I see it every time I go to the grocery store or the gas station. It just seems like it’s taken off dramatically. I tend to think a large part of it is profiteering. For some reason this got my attention today: went to the car wash, first time in about a month. The standard wash was $9, with wax it was $10, and $12 for the “super”. Today it was $10 for the standard, $12 w/wax, and $15 for the super. So the prices had jumped quite a bit. It was very noticeable as opposed to prices creeping up a little each week like the grocery store. It just felt like the place was climbing on the bandwagon of “inflation” to pad their pockets.

what I am seeing is well over double-digit increases and I also believe most of it is pure greed

I watch the sale ads and when there’s a good deal offered, I buy as much as practical. Consequently what I’ve run into about inflation is only on one item: gasoline. Everything else I pretty much have a stockpile. I have metal shelves set up in my basement and storage shed and when I need something I just go get it from the stockpile.

Gasoline doesn’t really affect me that much either because my job pays mileage. They recently upped the mileage amount, so only a fair amount of driving covers the cost of a tank. I still have to bargain hunt, though, just because I think it’s fun. Today I filled my tank at $4.73 a gallon.

I see the gouging the same as you. I can walk away, though, because I have alternatives.

My wife. Two bacon egg and cheese croissants plus two large coffees. Used to be 16 bucks. Now 21.
I'm so upset about it I've taken to ordering doughnuts too.

8. After many incidents of overcharging I'm extra careful as I check out everywhere

Various items at all of my 4 grocery stores (Aldi, Harris Teeter, Ingles, and Walmart) have been ringing up higher than shelf price almost every time I shop over past couple of months and I have to get it corrected. Sometimes its on sale and other times just a regular priced item. But I've never had so many problems and in fact never has this happened before at Walmart where prices used to be extremely stable and items always rang up correctly.

I guess prices are going up so fast that employees can't keep up with accurately changing the price tags on the shelves as well as having correct prices in computer. The overcharges have been from $1 up to $10 per item and the mistakes are always overcharges, never undercharges.

price with a coupon since I need two gallons per week to make my yogurt and I refuse to be gouged. I went down the frozen food aisles just for curiosity and all of those heat and eat lean cuisines and other frozen meals are waaaay overpriced now. I don't buy them often, but if I am working long stretches in a row, they are nice to have on hand. But, no.

And fresh meat or chicken? Ridiculous. Beans and grains are healthier so my full pantry will serve. I'm going to make this knock-off recipe for Costco's popular Quinoa salad this weekend to serve next week:
https://www.cleaneatingkitchen.com/quinoa-chickpea-salad/

It actually has lentils, not chickpeas along with quinoa, brown rice, kale, tomato, cucumber, spices, and a nice tangy lemon-olive oil base. Not exactly low carb, but sufficient olive oil, protein and fiber in it to prevent blood sugar spikes for those concerned.
