(48,974 posts)over the years, because one or more of my cats liked them. The largest I kept was the huge box Walmart had used to ship an already-assembled 3-foot scratching post with a very wide base (so the cats wouldn't knock it over). It was pretty close to being a cube 4' on each side. That empty, open box sat in my kitchen, talking up half the floor in that part of the kitchen, till I finally got tired of having to move it to reach the stove.

(34,376 posts)I've bought my 3 spoiled rescues cat trees and expensive cat beds just to end up donating almost all of them to my local cat rescue and Humane Society. It's boxes or nothing. Their new favorite is a 4.5' tall box that my new tower fan came in.

(48,974 posts)cats are keeping it in reserve. Oh, well, it'll probably get recycled eventually as long as cat hair is also allowed.
I've given away cat beds and other furniture, too, after discovering my cats didn't think they were nearly as interesting as boxes, or my own furniture. (And who am I kidding, calling it my own if there's a cat around...)
