I was fine with Native until I began a vigorous exercise schedule. Now it's not working. So what's out there that doesn't have all the kind of chemicals you don't want in close proximity to your lymph nodes? A.k.a. armpits.

(5,168 posts)We've been working out and sweating it up in this summer heat, so it's okay....if you take a shower after you work up a good sweat.
Summer sweat is wet and can get smelly.

(16,858 posts)It's naturally derived and it works great for me. I'm a guy that tends to sweat heavy in the summer if I'm not careful and armpit smell control is key. This product works great, lasts all day and the Cedarwood Sage smells great.

(10,279 posts)1. Try this.
With your hands, cup and rub 3% hydrogen peroxide into your armpits. After 5 minutes, pat it dry with a clean towel.
With your hands, cup and rub dry BAKING soda powder into the hair and skin of your armpits.
If this works, it may have to be repeated during the day.
2. If the above fails, try this:
Obtain these two Over-the-Counter medicines:
Vicks VapoRub (or a generic that is slightly weaker in active ingredients), about 5 oz.
Tea Tree Oil, Therapeutic Grade. (If you can't find it, get Neem Oil), about 5 oz.
Mix 1 oz of Vicks and the Oil.
Apply a very thin coating to the skin and hair of your armpits.
Warning: If your skins reacts, immediately wash with bath soap and water, AND do not ever apply again.

(3,370 posts)Smartie Pits and Andalou Naturals. Both work well - I vuy whichever is on sale.
A tip: Check your local TJ Maxx and Marshall's. They often have natural deodorants at a discounted price. A lot of these deodorants are expensive (to me) so it's a good way to try them without paying full price.

(4,266 posts)Traditional deoderant constantly and suddenly had me breaking out in chemical burns which were anywhere from uncomfortable to outright painful. My body just kinda kicked them after years of their not being an issue. I used calamine to heal the the burns, and as I did, I realized it was doing as good - or better - as the antipersperant had. I throw on a little extra strength Gold Bond powder with it.
Hey, it works for me. I don't know why. Calamine is surely a lot less chemical laden than anything else on the shelf, though!

(231 posts)looked into deodorants with no aluminum, I found a recipe online, very easy, equal parts coconut oil, corn starch and baking soda. Heat/cook in microwave until it bubbles 30 - 60 sec). Stir it up, pour into mold, cool and refrigerate if you want it to stay in a firm shape. Baking soda can irritate skin, so I just adjusted the ratio and use less baking soda. It works well for me, my armpits used to break out from every deodorant I bought. It just stops the smell, you still sweat but you don't stink. You might have to use more than once a day. My husband also uses it and I can tell when he doesn't use it. His response, I don't have any you have to make more. Hopefully all ingredients are environmentally friendly.

(6,529 posts)which is a "pure magnesium oil spray." I use it to massage muscles and particularly one fingertip joint, due to arthritis.
I was reviewing the label a couple of days ago, and it says "this spray can also be used as a deodorant." I don't know if that is a good idea or not, but it's not aluminum. Haven't tried it yet, but it's available for the day when I run out of the regular stuff.
I'm very good at taking pills, and I'm waiting for the day when I can take a pill in the morning which will make me smell like lavender, or maybe vanilla cookies. The day is coming.
