The bad news is overwhelming me. On top of having f*cked up my leg and walking on crutches while doing a job in Michigan (home is Maryland). I am starting to think that it's the media. That they REFUSE to cover the good news, and cover every little piece of bad news they can find.
On top of this, my Facebook newsfeed is showing me tons and tons of stuff about crazy shit white people have done to black people and native Americans within the past 150 years, AFTER SLAVERY ENDED just because they could. Recently I read about entire black communities, *successful, thriving black communities* in NY, AL, OR and GA where the people were forced out, and a lake was created over top of area where they lived.
SO! Whatcha got? I've been posting cute baby photos on my wall. And videos of AMAZING gymnasts from years past. I post both cat cartoons and dog cartoons. Equal opportunity. Kemp and Abrams are tied, which is a miracle for a black woman, and Warnock is beating Walker in the double digits. I think the people of Georgia have figured out that Walker is a shit candidate.
What do you do to lift your spirits????? Is there any possibility that MAYBE, America is not as fucked up as it seems, and its just the media?

(6,147 posts)I asked how you keep your spirits up and you said by keeping the glass level.
So I was wondering what's in the glass.
I love ginger ale and cranberry juice with a twist of lime.

Saw him perform at Red Rocks. What a treat!

(12,904 posts)I have made two nap-size quilt tops by hand since May 1. I am gonna make one more quilt top in July, then sew batting and backs to all three. Hoping to have them all quilted by Christmas.
These are memorial quilts I am making out of a ladys old clothing. I met her son, he saw my hobby (quilting), and mentioned to me that his mom had passed away. She always wore big Hawaiian type shirts or flannel blouses. He kinda started crying a little, and told me that he would love to have them made into a quilt.
So, I told him to bring me the shirts immediately, and I might have time to process a quilt by Christmas. He said I need 3 quilts, one for myself, my brother, and my nephew. Oh, crap.
Me, being a little crazy, and loving a challenge, said okay. Its really been kind of fun, and quite a challenge to use fabrics that dont really match or coordinate at all.
Long story short, two tops done, one to go, then the quilting. I think I can get it done.

(48,966 posts)Some of which I post here, but more are in the Music Appreciation group.
Not just lots of old favorite music there, but live performances of those old favorites that I hadn't seen before. And lots of good new music, whether from new artists or artists who are just new to me.
Videos about pets, especially cats, can make me laugh out loud. Which can be hazardous if I'm eating lunch while watching the videos, as I often am. If the video makes me laugh out loud several times, and the background music isn't too annoying, I'll post it here.
I do draw a line between news and music, especially bad news and music, since I don't want to end up associating any favorite music with a really horrible news story. So if I'm checking Twitter for news and commentary, I won't be listening to music at the same time. But I'll take frequent breaks to find antidotes to the bad news on YouTube.

(16,934 posts)She was pulling weeds and had gloves on. The chipmunk was running toward her with the cat chasing it. My granddaughter caught it, and went to turn it loose away from the cat. But their big dog got loose, and grabbed the chipmunk. My granddaughter got it away from the dog, someone got all of the bloodthirsty pets put away, and my granddaughter set the chipmunk loose in a safer spot. It's a 3 ring circus around here
