The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHello
Im a middle-aged Canadian fellow who has been following this board for many years. I never had an inclination to join, being a foreigner, but in these insane times, it seems to me that our citizenships should almost likely be determined by our sanity rather than our birthplaces.
Ive just been enabled to post and it seems the protocol is to post in the lounge first. So thats what Im doing. Just saying hello and feeling grateful to be able to participate in discussions with sane people. We have our insane up in Canada too, dont forget. Our Trucker Freedom Convoy storming our parliament just a few blocks from where I live, is proof of that. Thanks for having me.

(232,485 posts)We're glad to have you with us! And we have many DUers here from Canada, some of our most active members and I consider many of them friends here. I'm in Northeastern New York, much closer to Canada than NYC, and I also have real-life Canadian friends who have let me know how they feel about what's gone on here in the U.S. in recent years. Thanks for introducing yourself and we're glad you decided to participate!
BTW, we also have an active Canadian Group here:

(19,579 posts)I apologize for exporting our insanely conservative wingnuts into your beautiful country. I suppose it was only a matter of time until that type of nonsense oozed across the border, but still, we're immensely sorry.
Welcome, and feel free to complain and report on the Canadian conservative crazies. You'll find support and people to commiserate with you.
Welcome, neighbor!

(9,685 posts)I was a long time follower and felt just like you did. And the insanity level got to be too much. The people here are smart, funny, aware and concerned about society from an intellectual perspective. Posting here is cheaper than a shrink. Well, that's what my therapist says.
